At the present level of interest rates, conservative depositing of funds in a savings account falls far short of even covering the rate of inflation. Meanwhile, in these insecure times, even long-term holding of financial instruments cannot provide sufficient protection, especially if inter-yearly percentage fluctuations on the financial markets are in double figures due to changes in the moods of investors.
